Elizabeth Tyldesley 1586-1654

Elizabeth Tyldesley was the daughter of Thomas Tyldesley and Elizabeth Anderton. She was born in 1586, the year her father died. Although her grandfather, Edward Tyldesley, provided for her to have a dowry of £500, she never married.

Instead Elizabeth entered the Convent of the Poor Clares at Gravelines in Flanders. At the age of 30 she became Abbess.

Elizabeth died on 17 February 1654.
